I think that would be good --- autotools are hard to get going on, and
having you there in CERN and able to talk to Mikhail in person is a
great advantage. If you can find the time to give him a "tour" of the
FHerwig6510 autotools build files, that would help us to work out what
problems they expect and how we can deal with them. Things like the
naming of the generator libraries are flexible, of course!

Even if it takes a while for Genser to move to autotools, we really need
things like the anomalous Fortran linking with $(CXX) to be fixed: those
are bugs that can be fixed without changing the build system. It would
be good if the Genser bug tracker was used so that we can report and
track our problems properly (also useful for the experiments).

I think Alberto is keen but Genser's level of manpower is very low. We
need to keep a bit of pressure on, as well as offering our help as much
as possible.
