Dear All,

Version 1.2.01 of the Vincia Code has now been released, and can be
downloaded at:
http://www.hepforge.org/downloads/vincia

This is intended to be the last public release before the introduction
of initial-state radiation, for hadron-hadron physics. Since the
initial-state antenna shower will be based on massless partons, this
version also introduces a massless underlying formalism for final-state
partons, contrary to earlier versions that included a more elaborate
treatment of final-state mass effects. Phase-space constraints and
universal mass-correction terms in the antenna functions are still
included, but fully massive antenna functions and massive matrix-element
corrections have been disabled for the time being, as these require
explicitly massive 4-vectors. A new default “nikhef3” tune is included
as well, and gives nearly the same description as previously, although a
few b-specific observables have worsened slightly. This will be the
baseline for comparisons of the pp version. Further minor updates to the
VinciaRoot plotting tool, for better distinguishability of curves.

The new version is compatible with versions 8.200 - 8.205 of Pythia,
which can be downloaded at:
http://home.thep.lu.se/Pythia/

Sincerely,
The Vincia Collaboration
