[Rivet] Rivet crash when applying projection

Ok, thanks. So to summarise:

We have a segfault, which can be reproduced on different 64bit SL5 
machines but no other OS so far, and which goes away when adding one line 
of output, or when compiling with -O2 instead of -O3.
Annoyingly, it doesn't show any valgrind errors in the cases where it is 
working.

This sounds _very_ hard to debug ...
