Dear All,

The Pythia 8.176 code contains no major new physics features
nor critical bug fixes. Therefore there is no strong push
to upgrade from the 8.175 version. The release is mainly
intended for a set of people who have requested (some of)
the new features to be made available in a public version.

The two main changes are:

* Emission of W and Z gauge bosons in final-state parton
showers. This is only the first step to including it also
in combination with initial-state radiation, so not yet
ready for general usage.

* The Particle class has been equipped with a pointer to the
mother event. Thereby a number of methods tracing the history
of an event can become member functions of the particle rather
than of the event, i.e. called by event[i].method() rather
than event.method(i). For now the old style will remain as
an option, but will disappear with the release of Pythia 8.2.

Some other updates affect SUSY, the scale and the masses
read from LHE files, and a few minor bugs.

Sincerely yours,
The Pythia 8 Collaboration
