Dear Herwig++ and ThePEG users,

we would like to announce the new major release of Herwig++ 2.6.0
together with ThePEG 1.8.0. A release note will appear on arXiv shortly.

The main improvements are:

  * A new NLO framework, "Matchbox", for performing NLO calculations at
    fixed order, or matched to parton showers.

  * A first implementation of the coherent dipole shower algorithm.

  * Alternative samplers and the ExSample library.

  * An interface to events generated with AlpGen, allowing for MLM
    merging.

  * New BSM models for colour sextets, the CDF t-tbar asymmetry and Z'

  * POWHEG VBF production of Higgs bosons.

Two long-awaited technical fixes are

  * Automatic extrapolation of the energy-dependent underlying-event
    parameter pTmin

  * Correct cross-section information in HepMC for minimum-bias events.

All other bug fixes and improvements since the last version are listed
in the NEWS files in both the tarballs.

As usual, you can find the downloads at

For any questions, please contact herwig at projects.hepforge.org

With best regards,

     The Herwig++ and ThePEG authors
